In the society of lawful obligations a man is free insofar as he performs his contractual duties to others, who support his lawful rights under the social contract. I think it is safe to assume that the freedom of which Jesus spoke was also that of civilized, socialized people who would love their neighbors as the foundation of the social contract. The duty of love is an infringement on absolute liberty, or survival of the fittest.
