I personally agree that we Pakistanis are one of the corrupt nations, there are morals but people are losing them for which could be many factors which is not my topic here. Strangely enough we are always heard stories from our elders that our nation character in a disaster is always remarkable this is a little difficult to understand for the younger generations who have never seen anything like it and thought it to be a thing of the past.

But on Saturday 8 Oct when the biggest tragedy in the history of the country struck, a nation showed its character and morale. At first nobody could realize how big it is and what happened and info started coming about a collapsed building namely the Margalla Towers but the panic started when the news of the the remote districts like Muzzaffarabad, Bagh, Balakot, Rawalakot and Hazara divisions and more developed regions like Abbotabad, where almost all of the region were destroyed thousands death and thousands missing. Countless villages wiped out of the face of the earth indeed a humanitarian tragedy at its peak.

Then came the nation, donating everything and anything it can, examples were being set and heroes emerge. One guy who owned a 20 bed private hospital sold his hospital and donated every surgery item in the hospital. Another one agreed to pay for the fuel of 6 trips of a chartered plane from Karachi to Islamabad carrying aid. As all tents have been sold out another guy is bringing 10.000 tents from the US and thousand more stories still unknown.

The generation that was known as the ‘jeans wearers’ who were thought to be materialistic, selfish and unpatriotic has been working tirelessly days after days especially in the month of Ramadan when majority of Muslims fast in which they don’t eat or drink from dawn to dusk in temperatures more then 35 Celsius. Today I m really proud to call my self a Pakistani as we have set an example for the rest of the world and showed how united as a nation we are in times of need. Today I m proud of my people as how selflessly they have devoted everything for the cause.
